Position Summary
University Information Services (UIS) provides technical services and enterprise applications to the University of Colorado’s (CU) four campuses and the Office of the President. UIS is committed to excellence in customer service, technical expertise, and the development of enterprise applications responsible for supporting CU’s students, faculty, human resources employees, finance employees, and others.

The Enterprise Application Developer Lead serves as the subject matter expert regarding the PeopleSoft Finance modules, and is responsible for providing technical expertise, support, leadership, guidance, and essential consultation to UIS and CU leadership regarding the PeopleSoft Financial modules. This position is responsible for reviewing and evaluating maintenance and enhancement requests, analyzing complex processes to define system enhancements and modifications, and providing technical application support to system end users. Additionally, the Enterprise Application Developer Lead provides application development in PeopleSoft Financials modules by coding, testing, implementing batch and online computer software, and providing technical support to CU’s staff. 

This position reports to the Assistant Director of Finance Development and is exempt from the State of Colorado Classified Staff system.

Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to: 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Provides technical guidance to the PeopleSoft (PS) Developer team by promoting knowledge transfer with team members, and cross-training other teams
  • Develops, troubleshoots, and supports production of the Peoplesoft Finance modules. University of Colorado also has Grants implemented. Grants experience will be nice to have in this position. 
  • Develops, tests, debugs, modifies, and documents PeopleSoft enterprise Finance application systems along with all the integrations with Market place, Concur, HCM, ICS etc.
  • Consults with UIS management and team leads to implement critical maintenance and enhancement projects by providing essential information regarding PeopleSoft technology, functionality, and capabilities
  • Gathers and analyzes requirements to create technical designs to recommend and implement system enhancements and/or process improvements for business applications projects, including the development of new applications and customizations to be integrated with existing applications 
  • Coordinates end user system testing
  • Creates or modifies applications using PeopleCode, PeopleTools, and other development and testing tools
  • Creates and modifies technical documentation by writing and updating program, operations, and other system documentation
  • Assists campus key users, System Financials staff, and business process owners by answering technical questions 
  • Updates job knowledge and maintains subject matter expertise by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations. 
  • Instructs key users on the proper use and functionality of application programs by participating in meetings in which PeopleSoft functional and technical expertise is needed
  • Resolves routine and complex application questions and reported software and data errors
  • Addresses end users’ computing needs by analyzing complex processes to design new applications or enhancements to existing applications and by writing functional and/or technical specifications
  • Writes new or modifies existing batch programs using a variety of computer languages and file access methods including structured query report (SQR)/structured query language (SQL)
  • Adheres to all University policies and procedures
  • Maintains and improves software development life cycle (SDLC) processes, manages initiatives, guides intake and reports on team’s progress, mentors’ developers, guides technical strategy, provides representation in design/tool/troubleshooting discussions
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Expands professional and technical skills and subject matter expertise by acquiring knowledge in new technologies and system development procedures and tools by attending technical classes, seminars, and end user groups
  • Participates in internal improvement processes such as testing automation, initiative processes, cross team’s knowledge sharing etc.
  • Provides backup and support to Assistant Director, as needed.

Salary: The anticipated hiring range has been established at $102,700 - $112,700.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education in computer science, information technology, computer engineering, information systems, or an IT-related field, or equivalent professional experience (professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis)Five (5) years of PeopleSoft development experience, which includes:
      PeopleTools experience including Application Engine, SQR, Component Interfaces, Peoplecode, App Package, AWE, and IB 
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Seven (7) years of PeopleSoft development experience as indicated above, which may also include one or more of the following:
    • Experience in supporting Finance with experience in Grants
    • Experience with multiple PeopleSoft Finance 9.2 modules 
    • Experience with PeopleTools 8.50+ 
    • Experience using PeopleTools Application Designer (e.g. Page development, Application Engine, Component Interface, PeopleCode)
  • One (1) year of experience in a team lead or supervisory role, which may include assigning and reviewing the work of others, providing guidance to internal and external team members, and/or assisting management with performance reviews (this requirement may be substituted by formal leadership training)
  • Experience with large scale projects, enhancements, upgrades, and production support
  • Experience working with or in government or an institution of higher education
  • Experience with development lifecycle methodology preferably using Phire
  • Experience with SQR coding, SQL against Oracle databases, and UNIX commands
  • Experience with any, some, or all the following tools/technologies: Fluid objects creation, configuration, and maintenance, XSL transformations, Pagelet Wizard, PeopleSoft Work Centers and Navigation Collections
