The Department of Applied Linguistics is seeking a full time, non-tenure track Lecturer, beginning September 1, 2022.
Fulltime Lecturers have a teaching load of four courses per semester. However, three course load reductions will be given for this position, bringing the effective annual load to 2-3, as the Lecturer hired will have additional responsibilities of advising Master’s students, evaluating capstone final exercises both in December and May, reviewing MA applications, serving on three committees, assisting and mentoring master’s students opting to write a thesis, supporting PhD students preparing their qualifying paper, serving on three dissertation committees, and helping PhD students to develop publication goals. The Lecturer must be able to teach both foundational courses at the master’s level (APLING 603, - Language, Identity, and Culture and 605 – Theories and Principles of Language Instruction) and advanced master’s and PhD level courses in Sociolinguistics, Discourse Analysis, and Qualitative Research methods.
A PhD in Applied Linguistics is required. Candidates should include a letter describing their teaching interests and experience, curriculum vitae, statement of teaching and supervisory philosophy, sample syllabus, and contact information for three letters of reference.
