Minimum Qualifications:Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, formal training programs, or on-the-job training. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.
Position Summary:This is an advanced position in Grounds Heavy Equipment. This position will assist Concrete Masons in the forming and placement of concrete. Also serve as a spotter during excavation, assist in backfill and grading for curb, sidewalk, storm sewer installation and utility repair. Position will assess grade for asphalt and concrete placement. In addition use a dump truck and other heavy equipment such as but not limited to skid steer, backhoe, mini excavator, breaker, and other heavy equipment for assistance in hauling as well as other trade’s equipment. Assists with traffic control as needed. Will perform other work as needed. This position will report during inclement weather to assist with tasks such as snow and ice removal and clearing of downed trees.

- Ability to operate dump trucks for the transport of material and equipment.
- Ability to assist equipment operators in utility installation and repair.
- Ability to assess/establish grade for curb, sidewalk, pipe, and other excavations.
- Ability to assist concrete masons in the forming, pouring and finishing of concrete.
- Ability to operate skid steers, backhoes, breakers, compressors, jackhammers, cutoff saws, compactors and other equipment as necessary.
- Knowledge and ability to set up traffic control devices and perform traffic control.
- Ability to respond to grounds emergencies and inclement weather.
- Competence in the placement of asphalt.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Perform related work as needed.
Physical Demands:
- Walk, stand, stoop, bend, climb stairs, and lift up to 75 lbs throughout an 8 hour work day.
- Work in adverse weather conditions including heat, cold, and rain.
