Portland Community College is seeking a collaborative, equity-minded individual who brings experience in F-1 international student admissions to join our community and the Office of International Student Services as the International Student Admissions Specialist. The International Student Admissions Specialist is primarily responsible for the processing and reviewing of applications from prospective international students. The Specialist assists in the recruitment of new students through a variety of outreach efforts, reviews and analyzes documentation, trouble-shoots and helps resolve obstacles to enrollment, ensures compliance with related rules and regulations, and supports broader department goals and initiatives. The Specialist acts as a Designated School Official (DSO) as defined by the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP).

Throughout the screening process, you will be evaluated based on the demonstration of these qualifications.

  • Ability to be a Designated School Official (DSO) as required by the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP).
  • Strong recent working knowledge, training, and experience as a Designated School Official (DSO) for F-1 visa students, especially as it pertains to International Student Admissions and the issuance of I-20’s.
  • Training and experience successfully working with admissions and recruitment using a CRM (Client/Customer
  • Relations Management tool): SalesForce/EnrollmentRx, Slate, Sunapsis, Banner, PeopleSoft etc., ideally for international students.
  • Experience with admissions and applications, international student recruitment and/or international student advising in an educational setting.
  • Considerable knowledge of college international admissions policies and procedures, application review, evaluating/reviewing foreign and domestic transcripts, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Global Studies, International Affairs, International Education, Social Sciences, International Business,
Marketing, Foreign/Modern Languages, or other related field (experience performing the duties listed on the position description for this job may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis).

Two years of experience working with international (F-1 or J-1) students in a service oriented environment.

Ability to be a Designated School Official as required by the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP).

Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waiver for you, your spouse/domestic partner, and dependent children under 24 years of age, as well as partial tuition reimbursement for full-time employees at other accredited institutions.

*Please note: Temporary Academic Professional employees are not eligible for Personal Leave Days, Life Insurance, Long-term Disability, or AD&D Insurance.

Paid Leave: (Pro-rated by FTE for Part-Time Employees)

  • Starts at 13.33 hours of vacation leave per month (additional vacation hours with years of services)
  • 1 day of sick leave per month
  • 11 holidays
  • 3 additional personal leave days per year

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is typically performed in an office environment with a high level of public contact, both over the phone and in person. During peak registration periods incumbents will typically work extended hours, including some weekends. This position requires travel within the community and PCC campuses using a personal vehicle.

Occasional lifting of large quantities of recruiting materials and display equipment that may weigh 30-50 pounds required. During peak recruiting seasons requires long hours of standing on cement or gym floors.
