Job Summary

Georgia Southwestern State University is seeking to fill the position of Administrative Assistant in the Office of Recruitment and Admissions. This part-time position will support both graduate and undergraduate admission processes, including processing applications and supporting documents, answering phones, and maintaining student records.

Responsibilities
  • Assists in the entrance of applicant information in the student record system and the initial creation of the student file
  • Processes daily correspondence and assure that all incoming information is properly documented, scanned and filed - Searches against files and computer information for applicants
  • Maintains student files
  • Assists prospective students and parents by phone, email, and in person.
  • Assists in supervision of student workers in daily work schedule.
  • Perform more than one task at a time
  • Performs related work as assigned by the Admissions personnel
  • All other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications

A minimum of a high school diploma with training in general business supplemented by secretarial experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required. The successful candidate must have excellent people skills; knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment; ability to meet officials, students, and visitors pleasantly and courteously, and to effectively convey routine information; flexibility to work on more than one task at a time; knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Access, Power Point and Excel, and excellent telephone etiquette. Knowledge of Banner or TargetX/Salesforce computer software is preferred. This job will require 19 hours per week of in office work. The selected candidate will be required to work Monday – Friday during the midday hours.

Proposed Salary

$12 per hour; up to 19 hours per week.
