The Department of Architecture invites qualified applicants at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor to join a dedicated faculty for a one-year Visiting Professor of Architecture position to commence in August 2022.

The department seeks highly motivated candidates with the capacity to address contemporary issues, have a well-developed teaching pedagogy, and a recognized record for combining design teaching with a progressive scholarly or creative research agenda in the areas of Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI). Candidates must demonstrate the potential to teach at the crossroads of design, theory, and practice through studios, lecture courses, and seminars offered to students from diverse backgrounds. Over the course of this 9-month position (August 2022 – May 2023), the JEDI Visiting Professor will engage fully in the college through teaching, creative or scholarly research, and a public lecture or exhibit.

The Department of Architecture delivers a four-year pre-professional program (BS Arch), and a NAAB fully accredited Master of Architecture (M.Arch) for first professional degree students who hold either a non- preprofessional or pre-professional bachelor's degree. Our faculty and students are makers, global citizens, and advocates in a changing world that aligns with the evolving nature of collaborative and professional practice. In addition to the Architecture Program, the College of Architecture and Planning (CAP) offers degrees in Landscape Architecture, Urban and Regional Planning, Historic Preservation, Urban Design, and a Ph.D. in Design and Planning. Job Responsibilities
Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor positions in the College of Architecture and Planning engage in teaching, research/creative work, and service. The percentages allocated are 40% teaching, 40% research/creative work, and 20% service. The standard academic-year teaching load is two courses per semester.

Salary and Benefits:
The salary range for this position has been established at:

    Assistant Professor $80,000 to $90,000Associate Professor $85,000 to $95,000Professor $90,000 to $100,000
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Minimum Qualifications

Assistant Professor:

    Terminal degree in architecture or related fields (or international equivalent).Evidence of design studio teaching and lecture/seminar courses in the area of expertise.Demonstrated track record in Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) as it relates to architecture and design.Evidence of research or creative work.
Associate Professor:

    Terminal degree in architecture or related fields (or international equivalent).Evidence of design studio teaching and lecture/seminar courses in the area of expertise.Demonstrated track record in Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) as it relates to architecture and design.Evidence of research or creative work.
Professor: 

    Terminal degree in architecture or related fields (or international equivalent).Evidence of design studio teaching and lecture/seminar courses in the area of expertise.Demonstrated track record in Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) as it relates to architecture and design.Evidence of research or creative work.

    Professional license in architecture Ph.D. in architecture or a related field
