- Provide leadership in maintaining and developing policies and procedures, Student Consumer information, and review federal, state, NCAA, Board of Regents (BOR), and Institutional guidelines to ensure compliance with all areas of regulatory directives. Serves as a resource for interpretation of rules, regulations, policies, and procedures related to student financial aid.Manage all technical processes for the financial aid module. Including system upgrades, patch testing, new year set-up, file transfer with federal and state agencies and third party software implementations.Provide direct supervision of assigned Assistant Directors and Financial Aid Counselors. Assist in the supervisory responsibilities of the office, especially in the absence of the director.Responsible for managerial support, staff training and development; management of loans, scholarships and grant programs; federal work-study program, and medical and professional programs.Liaison between institutional departments and colleges, and other agencies such as the Business Office, Admissions, Registrar, Athletics, Alumni and Development, Foundations, Study Abroad, Vocational Rehabilitation, Third Party Vendors, faculty, staff, etc.Develop and implement best practices to enhance services to students and monitor excellent customer service initiatives. Create and maintain the departmental operational calendar and serve as backup for Security Data Steward.Manage disbursements, perform reconciliation of disbursements and monitor program funds. Manage reporting functions for Department of Education databases (i.e. COD, NSLDS, etc.)Represent Office of Student Financial Aid during absence of director and other duties as assigned.
- Must possess the ability to work well with students, faculty and staff at all levels within a diverse, multi-cultural, and collaborative environment.Thorough knowledge of Federal and State regulations pertaining to financial aid and/or student employment, Familiarity with on-line data processing systems including SIS/ERPs and DOE systems.Excellent written and oral communication skills and decision-making ability; Excellent attention to detail, a process-improvement focus, good training, analytical and documentation skills, as well as proficient technology skills.Demonstrated ability in leadership and organizational skills.Ability to maintain confidentialityProficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
