Position Summary::

The Director of Marketing and Communications position is responsible for developing marketing strategies for student enrollment, recruitment and retention. The director collaborates with all divisions of the College to assure that strategic direction, branding, design, development, and publications best support the college.

The director has the primary responsibility for developing and implementing a comprehensive branding, recruiting, and marketing strategy within the framework of the College’s overall college relations, communications programs and community relationships. On a daily basis, the director has the responsibility for developing and managing internal and external communications and student recruitment and retention efforts through various media, enhancing public awareness and trust of the College.

This position is instrumental in the development, promotion, and marketing of all college initiatives. The director should demonstrate strong communication and decision-making skills. The director develops, articulates, and executes all marketing and communications strategies with the approval of the Chief Officer of Governance, Advancement & Community Relations.

  • Demonstrated expertise in managing marketing strategies, including social media and digital marketing.
  • Knowledge of print production, direct mail, video, and photography.
  • Expertise in marketing strategies for new student recruitment and retention and dual enrollment programs.
  • Highly developed collaboration, relationship, and consultative skills.
  • Ability to function in a leadership capacity and as part of a management team.
  • Committed to the “open door” philosophy and mission of the community college.

Duty and Responsibility::

Manage the development and design of marketing materials in coordination with the College to include targeted and strategic news releases, annual reports, internal and external publications, flyers and brochures. Coordinate with outside vendors for audio and video direction.

Duty and Responsibility::

Follow enrollment trends, types of students, high school graduation and immersion levels, and other potential sources of students and develop marketing strategies and recruiting targets for growing enrollment. Obtain information from Student Success, Academic Programs and Continuing Education to inform the work and partner with Institutional Effectiveness to mine and interpret data for decision-making.

Duty and Responsibility::

Develop and administer an annual marketing plan and budget for the College consistent with deliberate application of the College’s brand, utilizing social media, written and oral communications, the College website and other publications in accordance with college and community needs.

Develop and coordinate internal communications in accordance with the College’s needs to include, but not limited to, President’s Messages, Campus Connect emergency messaging, public service announcements, weekly email and web announcements.

Develop local, state and national media opportunities, preparing and delivering requested information in advance through coordination and coaching of respective personnel to ensure consistent and concise messaging. Coordinates delivery with the college’s Public Information Officer.

Work to identify strategic opportunities to promote and advance the College, including an annual calendar of events that includes recruiting efforts, board meetings, student activities, graduation, semester start-ups, community functions, sports venues and targeted advertising.

Manage staff, including assignment and prioritization of work, establishment of personal and professional goals, development of staff, conducting performance evaluations, ensuring staff are trained, and that employees follow policies and procedures.

Our 102-acre North Campus is conveniently located in the North Carolina Piedmont, just off Interstate Highway 85 in Rowan County, within an hour's drive of several major cities. RCCC's 24-acre South Campus is conveniently located in Cabarrus County at the junction of I-85, NC 73, and Trinity Church Road.

Business and Industry Services' staff provide customized support for the community through the Small Business Center, New and Expanding Industry Training and Focused Industrial Training. The Small Business Center is designed to assist small business start-ups and to help existing businesses grow. The college's New and Expanding Industry Training office has earned national recognition for cooperative training efforts with area industries. Focused Industrial Training designs innovative educational programs for the service region's manufacturing sector.

An important function of the college is to provide educational programs on the pre-college level. Literacy Services offer adults the opportunity for meaningful social and occupational growth through Adult Basic Education (ABE), Human Resources Development (HRD), and the High School Equivalency Program (GED).
