Job Duties :

The ECU, College of Nursing continuously strives to create a learning environment and workplace culture that provides opportunity, support, and consideration for all students, employees, alumni, and other stakeholders. The East Carolina University College of Nursing (ECUCON) seeks applicants for a full-time tenure tenure-track or fixed-term faculty position. Academic appointment will be commensurate with the qualifications of the applicant. This position will be responsible for teaching a variety of courses in the RN/BSN option while having the flexibility to teach in the traditional BSN or Accelerated Second Degree BSN options depending on needs and expertise of the faculty. All courses in the RN/BSN options are offered through a distance education format, while the majority of BSN and ABSN courses are offered on campus. Courses may be writing intensive and may have a focus on domestic or global diversity and may include service learning. In addition to teaching, the position requires that faculty member teach, develop, and redesign courses in conjunction with other faculty. The position also requires that faculty participate in service to the College of Nursing and the University, including meetings and committee work (in-person an online).

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Planning, teaching, and evaluating courses in the Department of Baccalaureate Nursing Education, primarily online RN/BSN courses.
  • Collaborating with faculty to continuously evaluate and revise the courses and curriculum based on current evidence-based practice, as necessary.
  • Ensuring that RN/BSN students are evaluated for various course and program outcomes.

Minimum Education/Experience :

Tenure track positions require a doctorate in nursing or related field, from an appropriately accredited institution. Non-tenure, fixed-term positions require a master’s degree in nursing from an appropriately accredited institution. A valid non-restricted North Carolina nursing license is required upon employment.

At least a master’s degree in Nursing is required for this position.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation :

A valid non-restricted North Carolina nursing license is required upon employment.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education :

  • Preference will be given to applicants with recent online teaching experience with nursing students at the community college or baccalaureate level.
  • Experience with Canvas LMS is preferred.
  • Certification as a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) is preferred.
  • Experience teaching in an RN/BSN program is preferred.
  • Experience with RN/BSN student population is preferred.
