1. Ability to teach all lower division engineering courses that students are required to complete for engineering-transfer to a 4-year institution;2. Create engineering lab-exercises and design-projects, and implement advanced learning/teaching tools into courses;3. Build relationships with University Engineering Programs, other Community Colleges, and Engineering employers;4. Ability to teach Engineering enthusiastically, including incorporating new discoveries, research, and ideas into classrooms and teaching laboratories;5. Ability to adapt instructional techniques to accommodate varied learning styles and abilities;6. Commitment to collaborate in a timely fashion with laboratory technicians in the preparation of materials for courses;7. Ability to develop and update curriculum outlines for engineering courses;8. Commitment to working successfully as a team with other faculty and classified professionals, in STEM and across the college and district;9. Ability to implement, have respect for, and maintain standards of safe laboratory practices with students in the classroom;10. Ability to contribute to the total operation of the Department, Division, and College;11. Ability to work with computer-based instruction and integrate computers and associated peripherals as teaching and learning aids in lecture and laboratory settings;12. Commitment to seek and support personal creativity and professional growth and demonstrate career objectives consistent with the mission of Las Positas College;13. Commitment to participate in campus professional activities, which may include, but are not limited to, development of curriculum and new and innovative instructional approaches, committee membership, staff meetings, and community outreach;14. Participate in recruitment and articulation activities;15. Teach early morning, late afternoon, evening, weekend, and/or off campus classes when scheduled as part of the regular teaching assignment;16. Ability to interact successfully with students,’ faculty, administrators, staff, and community groups;17. Ability to communicate effectively both in oral and written form;18. Evidence of sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities.

Master’s in any field of engineering OR Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in mathematics, physics, computer science, chemistry or geology OR the equivalent.

(NOTE: A bachelor’s in any field of engineering with a professional engineer’s license is an alternative qualification for this discipline.)

1. Professional work experience in the field of Engineering.

2. Significant experience working with customers and/or clients on engineering projects and/or programs.

3. Prior experience teaching engineering in a college or university.

4. Ability to teach engineering technology courses that students are required to complete for engineering technology associates degree.

This position is full-time, tenure track, beginning Fall 2022. Employment will begin on or about August 15, 2022.
