Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Emergency Management Coordinator, Boca Raton, FL.

Summary of responsibilities will include:

  • Supports the planning, development, implementation and monitoring of emergency management policies, programs, plans, procedures and related initiatives for the University, in accordance with Federal, State, and local emergency management requirements, standards and appropriate best practices.

  • Assesses the University's susceptibility to natural and man-made disasters, including: hurricanes, fires, hazardous materials, incidents, bomb threats, nuclear, chemical or biological terrorism, and civil disorders.

  • Facilitates and coordinates hazard/threat identification and analysis, and monitoring, prevention/protection and mitigation strategies and business impact analyses.

  • Develops and conducts exercises or drills in accordance with Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program.

  • Serves as alternate emergency management liaison with local, State, and Federal agencies, to include the Florida Division of Emergency Management, Federal Emergency Management Agency, county and municipal emergency management agencies. Oversees departmental staff as appropriate.

  • Serves as alternate in oversight of the FAU Emergency Operations Center and associated emergency staff and facilitates the coordination of emergency support functions.

  • Manages the technological/data/information needs of the department and Emergency Operations Center, to include emergency notification systems.

  • Develops and provides support for formal emergency management, Homeland Security and National Security briefings and seminars to staff, faculty, students, residential populations, and the external community in accordance with the Emergency Management mandate to support the missions of the University.

  • Facilitates collaboration amongst University units and external parties to develop, negotiate, administer and evaluate appropriate contracts and agreements, including mutual aid and memoranda of understanding.

  • Supports a comprehensive emergency preparedness education program; conducts training and public awareness presentations University-wide; provides proactive support for training programs delivered to faculty, staff, students and the community.

  • Manages and provides support for grant programs and initiatives. Performing other related duties as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of relevant work experience required.

Salary:

$60,000 - $65,000 per year
