As part of a funded project by the Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP), the Post-Doctoral Associate will perform scientific research related to the evolution of morphological and biological heterogeneity in biofilms under the supervision of Dr. Ruiz Pestana. Moreover, the Post-Doctoral Associate will promote institutional recognition through literal contributions to the scientific community. The supervising faculty will be responsible for providing ongoing feedback and a formal assessment.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Conduct research on specific areas of study as assigned. Prepare research reports and technical papers for publishing. Investigate the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories. Maintain substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories. Develop advanced analytical models and systems and provides solutions and analyses to support strategic and tactical decisions. Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Ph.D. in chemistry, physics, engineering, or related field.
Certification and Licensing:
Not Applicable.
Experience:
No prior experience required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes:
- Programming expertise with MATLAB and/or Python.
- Knowledge of molecular dynamics (MD) simulations.
- Background in computational mechanics, biophysics, or related subject.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally
- Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
