Job Summary

Under the direction of the Director of International Student & Scholar Services in the UMass Amherst International Programs Office, this position will coordinate the incoming new international student fall semester orientation activities and related programming. This position will serve as the primary International Program Office (IPO) liaison to the New Student Orientation and Transitions (NSOT) unit and the Office of Parent Services for undergraduate orientation, as well as the Graduate School.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and lead outcome-based orientation, transition, belonging, and success programming for international students and scholars.
  • Develop, plan, and implement innovative informational and wellness workshops, programming, and related cultural events which promote the inclusion, well-being, and success of international students and scholars into the campus community and the wider local area.
  • Use electronic and social media platforms to promote and advertise pre-arrival and fall semester orientation activities.
  • Other Functions

  • Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience working with populations from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to multitask, meet urgent deadlines, and adapt to changing demands and priorities.
  • Ability to work efficiently with a highly diverse international clientele, as well as other campus faculty, university administrators, and government officials.

    Work Schedule

    • Varies with need, up to 40 hours per week.
  • May involve some evenings and/or weekend hours.
  • Salary Information

    $25.00/hour
