Description:

The University’s Facilities & Services (F&S) department is entering our second year of putting our communications strategy into action. We have a dynamic and far-reaching portfolio—managing 110+ buildings, campus grounds, dozens of multi-million-dollar projects as well as actively working on making the climate positive campus plan a reality. We have an exciting opportunity for a new graduate with a background and passion in marketing and/or communications to join a tight-knit, collaborative team to work on building our brand, improving the client experience, and strengthening our internal communications. The communications & brand coordinator will work closely with F&S staff and management and coordinate and mentor work-study students to develop digital content, design and manage a content cycle, and build an internal brand and communications resource hub. This is an opportunity for a hard-working and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about creative and compelling content and taking initiative to participate in the Professional Experience Program and embed in all aspects of client service and operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Understand and implement strategic communication goals

  • Plan, research, write and edit news stories and digital content

  • Liaise with colleagues about content development, including informational interviews

  • Design and maintain content calendar and manage content backlog

  • Coordinate and support work-study student writer(s) and photographer(s)

  • Develop formalized F&S communication processes and resource and branded templates

  • Liaise with U of T Advancement Brand colleagues about branded resources

  • Collaborate with the communication and business improvement team on special projects

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree in commerce or business administration with a specialization in marketing or communications or a related field

  • Strong team member quick to establish trust

  • Creative and unconventional thinker

  • Strong communication and storytelling skills

  • Experience with content ideation, planning, researching, writing, and editing

  • Meticulous about spelling, punctuation and attention to detail

  • Ability to set and meet deadlines

  • Experience with MS Office including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Teams

  • Experience with Adobe InDesign preferred but not required
