Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm

Job Summary: Performs high-level professional or technical accounting activities for specialized, complex and/or functional areas requiring the expert knowledge and professional application of accounting principles, practices and techniques in accordance with industry standards, current laws and university policy. Manages resources of assigned areas to accomplish goals and objectives and supervises senior level and entry level professional accountants and other staff. May be responsible for establishing policy.

Additional Department Summary: This position will serve as a strategic partner to the areas within and supported by Finance and Operations Shared Administrative Services and will be responsible for building relationships with internal and external partners. The incumbent will serve as the key controls and compliance professional by assessing internal business controls for several operational and financial areas and will provide financial reviews and corresponding reports and issue recommendations regarding weaknesses. The incumbent must be familiar with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, appropriate federal, state and local regulations that apply to accounting for capital projects, restaurants, and other operational areas. The incumbent must also be skilled as an accountant and must have an understanding of (but not limited to) financial reporting, standard financial and profit and loss statements, reconciliation of accounts, budgetary projections and estimates and the financial responsibilities related to capital project accounting.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree or higher in Accounting or Finance and seven (7) years of progressively responsible professional accounting experience; OR a Masters degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business and six (6) years of professional accounting experience; OR CPA and (6) years of professional accounting experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Three (3) years external auditing experience or CPA certificate are preferred.
