Assistant Professor of Dance, non-tenure, renewable contractThis non-tenure, renewable-contract Assistant Professor position will be responsible for coordinating, developing, and directing community outreach and summer programs, mentoring graduate student teaching and research, teaching studio dance techniques at all levels in modern/contemporary, concert jazz styles, ballet, and/or non-Western forms, and teaching one or more of the following dance studies courses: dance history, dance appreciation, dance pedagogy, and choreography. All renewable contract assistant professors are expected to engage in service/academic citizenship appropriate to their area and expertise. Additionally, they are expected to maintain a good level of performance in the classroom and/or other appropriate instructional settings and to contribute to the overall instructional effectiveness of the academic programs in which they have assigned duties. This position will not be expected to prepare or publish original scholarship. Opportunities will be available to choreograph, rehearsal direct, or re-stage masterworks on students for the pre-professional company Alabama Repertory Dance Theatre and other dance productions, as well as coach student creative work for student-choreographed concerts. The position will also participate in recruitment, mentoring and advising of students at the graduate and undergraduate level.Minimum requirements: Master of Fine Arts in Dance or related field. Record of successful teaching at the college and/or university level. Candidates should demonstrate a clear commitment to inclusive pedagogical approaches, and a record of work using diverse and collaborative perspectives. Good communication and organizational skills are imperative.This three-year renewable position begins August 16, 2022. To apply, go to http://jobs.ua.edu.
