Visiting Assistant Professor
Two Visiting Assistant Professor (VAP) positions (non-tenure track) to teach courses in Criminology, Social Justice, and Sociology.
One VAP position will be focused within the criminology program housed in sociology at Miami University including both a track within the sociology major and a stand-alone criminology minor. Successful applicants will be expected to teach courses within the Criminology Program, such as Social Deviance, Criminology, and Justice and Law as well as introductory courses in sociology and/or social justice. This position will also be expected to supervise students in their internship in criminology.
The second VAP position will be focused more broadly in sociology and fill specific needs across that program. Successful applicants will be expected to teach courses in Race and Ethnic Relations and Sociology of Aging as well as introductory courses in sociology and/or social justice. Strong preference will be given to candidates that can also teach courses in the areas of medical sociology and/or population.
Master's degree in Sociology or Criminology; demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching.
Applicant must be a U.S. citizen, a lawful permanent resident, admitted for residence as an applicant under the 1986 immigration amnesty law, refugee or asylee.
Consideration may be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in Sociology or Criminology. Position #1: Ability to teach courses on social deviance, criminology, and justice. Experience with supervising internships and field placements. Position #2: Ability to teach courses in race and ethnic relations and sociology of aging.
