Job Description:

The University of Florida is accepting applications for the position of Dental Assistant I. This position works in the Student Oral Surgery Clinic; duties include chairside assisting, setting up operatories, and assisting the front desk reception.

Specific responsibilities for this position include:

  • Assist with dental operatory set-up: assist chairside as needed: Duties to include; operatory set-up with supplies, paperwork/chart.
  • Order and maintain inventory for the Student Clinic.
  • Serve as backup for the Student Clinic receptionist as needed and other duties as assigned. Duties include: answering the phone and maintaining required paperwork for patients to be seen in the clinic.
  • Cross coverage assisting in Grad OS/CID as needed during staffing shortages.
Advertised Salary:

$15.00 - $16.00 per hour

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent and one year of relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Certification in CPR, Dental Radiology and Expanded Function Auxiliary is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of and ability to prepare, sterilize, maintain oral surgery instruments and equipment.
  • Ability to keep the oral surgery student clinic running smoothly and on a timely basis.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to independently plan, organize and perform work assignments.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, students, residents and faculty.
