Job Description: 

Position Summary

The Project Manager, FPDC willprovide total project management administration from facilitation to completionand operation including planning; hiring on consulting Architect/Engineering(A/E) firms to coordinate design with end users and produce permit and biddocuments, procure construction services, oversee construction, movemanagement, and readily resolve warranty period issues. The position will attimes coordinate and interact with multiple internal and external projectpartners on highly visible capital projects, internal college renovations, andstaff move and relocations. This role requires exceptional customer service asit works closely with College Directors, Deans, Chairpersons, and faculty todevelop, implement, complete and operate new and renovated projects, moves andreconfigurations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Project Management & ProjectLeadership

Manages consulting A/E designfirms, including review of proposals, contracting, and related supervision toassure complex design needs and deliverables are achieved. Reviews designdocuments and project manuals for compliance with building code, universitybuilding design standards and project objectives. Identifies the project team,schedules and manages project team meetings. Develops project schedules andmilestones. Actively completes the designed project, through bidding,contractor negotiations, the construction process, and project close out.Maintains College quality standards throughout the project.
Inform and follow collegemethodology of delivering work in compliance with the Planning, Design andConstruction Project Manager’s Manual, Ohio Facilities Construction Commission(OFCC) guidelines, and college standards. Develops project scope, the Programof Requirements, conceptual project estimates, budgets, and deliverables inconjunction with architectural design team and the project end user throughschematic, design development, and construction document phases, design abalanced space that meets the user groups requirements, and needs supportingteaching mission of the College.

Relationship Management

Coordinates with College usergroups, the architectural team, interior designers, in-house specialists, andrelated vendors. Functions as liaison to other departments. Maintains effectiveworking relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Coordinatesin-house telecom, IT, and security specialists, including external architects, engineers,interior design, furniture representatives, and specialty contractors.

Fiscal & Administrative

Develops and maintains current andaccurate budget control documents, analyzes and controls project expensesthroughout the project. Invoices and process payment. Researches and collectscost data from vendor and project sources for historical purposes.
Assists with establishing andmaintaining the College building design standards database, in collaborationwith Design and Construction, and Facility Operations personnel. Suppliestimely College space data for new facilities, and remodel spaces, updatingflooring as needed and required.

Manages multiple assignments ofvarying complexity and meets tight timelines and deadlines, with the ability toadapt to changing needs of the College and business partners.

Working Conditions

Typicaloffice and classroom environment; job sites inside construction zones, somewhatregularly, including exposure to typical construction zone environment (dust,dirt, hard-hat zones, etc.)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of: industry standard project management methodologies to direct and manage project development and implementation; AutoCad; familiarity with the OFCC policies and practices.Skill in: verbal and written communications; planning, executing and closing assigned projects according to strategic alignment and priorities; making presentations; planning and coordinating project resources; maintaining project records and documentation; application of job related computer software including Word, Excel and other job-related software programs; operation of job-related equipment including computers and other equipment; routine typing.Ability to: plan, execute and close assigned projects according to strategic goals and schedule, within compliance with scope, quality, schedule, and budget; coordinate and monitor in-house specialists, third party contractors, and consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan; coordinate multiple activities and tasks; exhibit flexibility in work schedule and job tasks; develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, supervisors, job contacts and the general public; collect data, establish facts, and determine valid conclusions; maintain accurate and complete work records; thrive in a collaborative environment; working effectively under pressure while maintaining a professional demeanor; model high standards of honesty, integrity, trust, and ethical behavior; work effectively with persons of varying cultures and diversity.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's Degree in Construction Management or related field. Five (5) years' experience, a proven, demonstrable record of increased project responsibility, working within the private, commercial, State of Ohio or development construction sectors. State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).
