. Position Emphasis:
The MSA Coordinator (1.0 FTE), hereinafter referred to as the Coordinator, under direction from the Vice Chair for Education, Director of Finance and Administration (DFA), and the Master of Science Program Director, is primarily responsible for coordinating the MSA Program and its students in-training, hereinafter referred to as the Program. Coordination encompasses the student recruitment process, curriculum and accreditation, class and clinical schedules, business activities and budget oversight, and policies and procedures. The Coordinator provides essential communication and networking for the effective functioning of a major Anesthesiology training program. The Coordinator represents the Program on behalf of the Department of Anesthesiology, the School of Medicine and the University of Colorado. The Coordinator reports directly to the Education Manager for the Department of Anesthesiology. The Coordinator is additionally accountable to the Accreditation Council for Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) for rules, regulations and directives related to the training program. The Coordinator receives direction and guidance from the Education Manager in administrative, policy, operational, and fiscal matters, and from the Program Director for programmatic issues related to strategic planning, growth, development, and recruitment.Duties and Responsibilities:
Specific duties and responsibilities of the Coordinator may include, but are not limited to, the following:Program Administration:
Coordinates all aspects of the program. This is inclusive of class schedules, course catalogue, book lists, interfacing with other academic and university departments, securing space for courses, meetings, and other required trainings. Provides registration and logistical coordination for ancillary courses, which are required of the program but may not be instructed through the university. Examples of these courses include, but are not limited to, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support and Basic Life Support.Coordinate and ensure compliance accreditation requirements for the MSA Program.Aids in the implementation of Program student and faculty services, serving as a resource for campus technology systems such as Canvas and CU-SIS, as well as serving as a liaison to Financial Aid, the Registrar’s Office, and the Bursar’s Office.Creates and maintains educational database files within the department including program statistics and documentation of residency and medical student programs.This position will be responsible for capturing the content from faculty and staff and subsequently write the Program sections of the department program review or other reviews as requested by the School of Medicine. Will be called upon to write other reports as needed.Organizes recurring meetings among faculty leaders and program directors to discuss common programmatic issues.Provides clerical support for faculty directly involved in the administration of the Anesthesiologist Assistant training program.
Coordinates all aspects of the annual Program recruitment process. Maintains informational brochures on the Program, in hard copy and on-line versions, as appropriate. Fields prospective applicant information requests primarily by e-mail and phone. Establishes interview days for applicants. Helps to collect and organize information on applicants utilizing the on-line application process through CASAA (Centralized Application Service for Anesthesiologist Assistants). Coordinates faculty interviewers, space, meals, transportation and, in some cases, housing and other needs for prospective applicants. Gathers and assembles interview results, and prepares for the applicant acceptance process.Provides formal and informal presentations to various groups regarding the Program’s educational activities, admissions process and requirements.Manages content for Program webpages on both the department internet and intranet sites.
Program Data and Recordkeeping:
Maintains required electronic recordkeeping that serve as the data processes for the Program. Additionally manages software used for student evaluations and clinical timekeeping (CORE ELMS) or a host of other program needs.Manages hard copy and electronic files of students who enter or leave the program.Prepares reports for the Department or others to satisfy needs, such as CAAHEP studies, program reviews, retreats, audits or other, as requested.Serves as a program contact for the Registrar, and serves as a program expert for campus student software programs inclusive of the CU-SIS program.
Policy Coordination and Compliance:
Administers pertinent State fiscal policies, State and UC SOM rules and procedures, and State and Federal laws and standards applicable to the Program or business management.Administers pertinent School of Medicine policies, including rules and regulations promulgated by the national accreditation council.Coordinates program and fiscal policies related to program needs at all training site locations, including the University of Colorado Hospital (UCH), Children’s Hospital Colorado (CHC), and others.Attends and may be the coordinator of program related meetings and functions or other educational meetings of the Department, including faculty meetings, department manager meetings. May act as coordinator of divisional faculty and staff or other meetings.
Purchasing & Budget Oversight:
Will assist in the coordination of purchasing activities, including purchase orders, standing purchase orders, payment vouchers, utilization of an institutional procurement card within the parameters of relevant fiscal rules and purchasing policy. Oversee the MSA budget; provide financial updates and develop reports as needed; generate financial projections based on tuition; manage financial data for the program.

- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred. Relevant experience in medical education, higher education, medical school programs or a health sciences center setting may be substituted for education.
- One (1) years of program and/or project management/coordination.
A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis, but not for the specific experience.Preferred Qualifications:
Two (2) or more years of experience working in an academic setting.Experience managing curriculum.Experience with data management.Competencies/Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Organizational skills with ability to plan and organize program needs and activities, establish work priorities and provide follow through to ensure completion of activities, both individually and assisting others with work tasks.Knowledge of, or ability to, become fully competent in computer programs and platforms essential to the Program, including the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) and CORE ELMS, CU Marketplace, Concur Travel & Expense, and CU-SIS. Software used will continue to change, so adaptability to new electronic programs and tools is essential. Ability to understand and apply regulatory requirements at the program level.Ability to communicate effectively with administrative personnel, physicians and other program personnel, trainees/prospective trainees, staff and other constituents, in written communications and oral presentations. Interpersonal skills working with residents and others in an environment of high volume and stress.Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.Outstanding customer service skills.Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.Salary and Benefits:

) for this position has been established at $45,049 to $57,302. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.The above salary range (or hiring range
