The Colorado Sickle Cell Treatment and Research Center has an opening for a part-time (.65 FTE),  University Staff (unclassified) Program Coordinator position.

The Colorado Sickle Cell Treatment and Research Center (Center) provides comprehensive medical care for all persons in Colorado with sickle cell disease. We conduct research to elucidate the pathophysiology of sickle cell disease and to develop and implement treatments and systems of care that prevent or minimize complications and prolong and improve the quality of life and conduct educational programs and provide counseling about hemoglobinopathies.

The Program Coordinator duties will include the following: administer all funds; establish and manage administrative support; serve as business manager; provide administrative support to the Sickle Cell Center to enhance productivity of the Center and its professional staff; serve as finance administrator responsible for designing and implementing changes to financial and center operations, organizing work processes and providing financial management and analysis of Center budget and accounts, approves and monitors expenditures, provides Director with monthly summarized financial reports on all accounts after all problems have been resolved and adjustments made and keep Director apprised of University updates, Center activities and status.  

 This position serves as the sole administrative support for the Center.  Specific duties include managing grants and contracts for services, working with appropriate University and/or CU Medicine contracting groups/systems to contract with outside agencies for governmental and private grants, providing contract financial management and oversight, ensuring fiscal compliance with Federal, State and University rules and regulations.  Develops annual Center budgets; monitoring and analyzing funds to ensure financial compliance; monitoring and processing all revenues, expenditures, payments and reallocations; forecasting and developing funding for salaried positions and making adjustments as appropriate; forecasting future revenues and funds; overseeing organizational needs.  Creates new processes and implements changes as needed; providing human resources support by approving new hires, developing job descriptions, managing recruitment efforts and processing payroll paperwork; managing Center’s website in collaboration with contracted website developer and maintenance provider which includes monitoring and arranging content updates, new formats and page design, new functions, and analyzing visitor usage.  Manages special projects, meetings and other Center activities and other organizational needs as they arise.  Manages computer and other equipment needs, tracking assets, purchases, etc., helping to arrange OIT and other troubleshooting and repair services as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Intermediate level

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting, education, social sciences, healthcare administration, public administration, communications, information systems, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • One (1) of professional level experience including management of general office activities and support, financial management experience which included compiling and analyzing financial data, monitoring and analyzing funds and forecasting monthly and yearly budgets.
Senior level

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting, education, social sciences, healthcare administration, public administration, communications, information systems, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Two (2) years of professional level experience including independent management of general office activities and support, accounting including A/R and A/P, financial management experience which included compiling and analyzing financial data, monitoring and analyzing funds and forecasting monthly and yearly budgets, creating reports, meeting project deadlines and submissions as required.   
Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.

Conditions of Employment:

Must be willing and able to work in an office on Anschutz Medical Campus.

Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Formal Intermediate level accounting and Governmental & Non-Profit accounting courses would be the desired minimum knowledge base required to be successful in this position.
  • Hands on experience working within an institution of higher learning as well as medical facilities. 
  • Experience interacting with patient and families and severe chronic illness.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at:

    Intermediate level: $35,064-44,602 at part-time .65 FTESenior level: $37,908-48,219 at part-time .65 FTE
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
