Job Summary Provide basic technical support services required for conducting tests and experiments in a school or research laboratory within the Institute. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: academic and research faculty, co-workers. This position typically will advise and counsel: NA. This position will supervise: NA.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -

Gather, compile and summarize data in conjunction with assigned scientific tests, experiments, etc.

Job Duty 2 -
Collect and prepare samples for use in assigned tests

Job Duty 3 -
Prepare statistical analyses and maintain related records.

Job Duty 4 -
Operate various equipment used in research studies.

Job Duty 5 -
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications Educational Requirements
Technical Diploma, Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Experience
One to two years of job related experience

Preferred Qualifications B.S. in biomedical engineering, biology electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry, or a related field.

The ideal candidate will be willing to commit to at least one year in the position.

Experience with working with small animals or coding in MATLAB or R is preferred but not required.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities This job requires basic knowledge of research lab equipment and support processes and practices. Includes skill in data organization, statistical analysis and use of statistical and scientific computer applications.

Other Information

Provide technical support required for conducting biological research experiments in a research laboratory within the Petit Institute for Bioengineering and Bioscience. Job responsibilities will include small animal handling, surgery, imaging, and functional testing; IACUC protocol compliance and record keeping; management of breeding colonies; along with assistance on a variety of other miscellaneous experiments. This position will interact on a consistent basis with academic and research faculty, students, and co-workers, as well as collaborators at Emory University. The candidate is expected to be self-motivated, detail oriented, and capable of working in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities include:

    Executing assays and scientific experiments in the laboratoryConducting experiments with mice and manage mouse colonyMaintaining detailed research records and prepare statistical analyses of data using computer software for publicationOrdering of lab suppliesRegular video meetings with research team at Emory and Georgia Tech and regular travel to Emory to meet and work with collaborating research staff.
