Job Summary Perform entry level support activities within an Institute laboratory to include routine tests and examinations, providing assistance in experiment setup and recording data. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: faculty, staff and students. This position typically will advise and counsel: NA. This position will supervise: NA.Job Summary Performs routine duties associated with animal care in a research setting. Prepares food and feeds animals, cleans caging and housing accessories, maintains sanitary conditions throughout facility, and observes and records environmental conditions, animal health and behavior.Responsibilities

Prepare for laboratory media/equipment demonstrations

Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies

High school diploma, GED Certificate or Vocational School Diploma
Required Experience
Two years of job related experienceRequired Qualifications A high school diploma or equivalent AND one year of animal husbandry/care experience OR two years of animal husbandry experience in a laboratory animal facility OR certification as Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT). LAT and LATG certifications and additional education can fulfill requirements on a per case basis. The ability to lift 50 pounds and push/pull heavy loads. Positions in this classification may require a valid Georgia driver's license and an insurable driving record.Preferred Qualifications Preferred Educational Qualifications
Technical Diploma, Associate's Degree or two years college course workProposed Salary Job Grade S2Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities SKILLS
This job requires basic science background and basic knowledge of laboratory test procedures and equipment usage.Other Information This is a supervisory position.

Responsibilities
- Feeds and cleans animal enclosures/housing systems.Observes and monitors animals for signs of illness, trauma or social instability.Monitors environmental conditions in animal housing rooms and inspects the condition of facilities and equipment for cleanliness and proper operation.Maintains daily records pertaining to animal care, environmental data and facility cleanliness/maintenance.Cleans and sanitizes facility spaces and rooms.Participates in staff meetings and other activities as directed.Complies with EHS standards and other applicable federal and state regulations when working with hazardous chemicals, materials, animals and power equipment.
