Chief, Institutional Effectiveness

Summary

Air University's, Global College of Professional Military Education (GCPME) invites applications from qualified individuals for the position of Deputy Director, Institutional Effectiveness. The purpose of this position is to support the Air University's GCPME in fulfilling its core mission as directed by the Commander, Air University and the Commandant, GCPME.

Responsibilities

Recognizes the importance of educational excellence and the role of data in assessment in an online environment. Collaborates with faculty, staff, administrators, and committees on quality improvement processes that enhance the design and planning of assessment within the curricula, courses, learning environments, and faculty development. Ensures data collection instruments are customized to optimize survey data collection for surveys that focus on educational programs to obtain feedback from students, faculty members and graduates. Assists in the design of authentic assessment measures of student learning with curricular and co-curricular programs. Develops, creates, and shares surveys, reports, and institutional dashboards to assist in academic planning at all levels. Facilitates new initiatives and encourages collaborations between curricular and professional development programs that support effective teaching and learning in the College through a variety of instructional modalities. Communicates, conveys, and visualizes informed conclusions and recommendations in a manner to tell the story behind the data.

Promotes development of learning environments that accommodate individual learning differences. Assists faculty with design of outcomes- based instructional materials. Executes flow processes for institutional effectiveness data, documentation and recommendations in an online environment. Conducts activities to collect feedback from students, faculty, and alumni on educational programs; produces summary reports. Employs both qualitative and quantitative methodology for proper data gathering, analysis, and reporting of findings on the effectiveness of the OPME school curricula, instructional methods and deliver, and academic support activities. Informs practices for measuring the effectiveness of a wide range of institutional initiatives. Assists efforts to determine areas of weakness; recommend corrective actions and set deadlines. Supports evaluation of program quality and enables continuous improvement of the institution and all academic programs. Engages in service (internal and external) in support of institutional missions. Supports professional and academic accreditation activities.

Assists development of policy and program guidance governing the implementation and execution of assessment initiatives for academic information and materials in online education. Conducts and supports research activities across the eSchool related to institutional assessment, effectiveness, and improvement. This includes coordinating direct assessment of programs and courses and managing/facilitating the release/utilization of indirect data for both program and course-level assessment processes. Provides institutional data and findings from research and assessment to support institutional planning processes. Maintains expertise in the knowledge of trends in higher education, innovations, research, and best practices for using pedagogy and technology to assess and improve learning outcomes. Conducts special projects in support of institutional effectiveness and outcomes assessment on behalf of eSchool, Air University, the Air Force, or Department of Defense. Travels to support these activities as directed by the leadership at eSchool and Air University.

Engages in teaching, researching, and writing that advances knowledge in field of institutional improvement, knowledge management, assessments, or related topics. Actively seeks development of data analysis best practices and analytic tools. Participates with other professional military education schools, professional organizations, AF/DoD institutions, universities and colleges in professional development activities. Maintains academic and professional currency by consistently reviewing professional literature and conducting scholarly research.
