The Visiting Lecturer will hold a temporary faculty appointment and have administrative,academic and scholarship responsibilities consistent with the mission and philosophy of the Nursing Department and the Community College of Rhode Island. This individual will demonstrate competence in teaching and development of curriculum as well as clinical competence in the area of Medical/Surgical Nursing.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Commitment to CCRl’s Mission:• Demonstrate a commitment to the philosophy and mission of a comprehensive community college.• Work collaboratively with others in a diverse and inclusive environment.• Work collaboratively in a diverse, inclusive and student-centered environment, with students of various learning styles, cultures, identities, and life-experiences. Student Focus:• Demonstrate commitment to providing academic support to all students• Ensure student awareness of available resources that support learning and success within the institution• Facilitate engagement and academic success by incorporating student advising, counseling and remediation as needed Instructional and Communication Skills:• Facilitate learning in the classroom , laboratory, simulation clinical• Contribute to a dynamic teaching/learning environment requiring adaptability, creativity, and teamwork .• Use innovative instructional strategies that support student success and recognize diverse learning styles.• Use technology to enhance instruction and communicate effectively with the campus community• Apply strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, and a collaborative approach to working with students and colleagues. Accreditation; Curriculum and Program Development:• Develop, implement, evaluate, and refine the content, instructional and assessment material• Contribute to the development and revision of the curriculum• Participate in assuring compliance with accreditation standards established by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and the Rhode Island Department Registration and Nurse Education Departmental & College Support:• Participate in College activities• Participate in Department activities , including course, committee and faculty meetings to ensure coordination of didactic instruction and clinical experience; and policy development• Be willing to travel and teach at multi-campus locations as required by department needs.• Other duties as required

Minimum Requirements:

• Master’s Degree in Nursing, required.• Unencumbered Active license (or eligible for licensure) as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island, required.• The equivalent of five years’ full-time experience in the nursing field with emphasis on Medical/Surgical Nursing, required.• Current nursing experience within the past 5 years, required.• Current CPR for healthcare providers AHA certification, required.

Competencies and Desired Qualifications:

The most suitably qualified candidate will possess the following competencies: • Current acute care experience.• Experience in classroom and/or clinical instruction, preferably in a nursing program.• Strong communication, organization, interpersonal and counseling skills.• Experience, by education or employment, with curriculum design and evaluation, as well as student assessment.• Current skill and knowledge in the use of information technology and demonstrated experience with integration of computer technology into instruction.• Ability to thrive in a dynamic teaching/learning environment requiring flexibility, adaptability and teamwork

The College provides a variety of career, technical and academic programs at four main campuses in Warwick, Lincoln, Providence and Newport. A secondary Providence Campus is located in the historic Shepard Building in the heart of downtown Providence and courses are also offered at a satellite facility in Westerly.

CCRI offers more than 80 degree and certificate programs to its approximately 18,000 students and its non-credit classes for workforce training or personal enrichment through the Center for Workforce and Community Education receive more than 32,000 registrations annually.

Thirty percent of recent CCRI graduates who are continuing their education at least part time are attending more than 50 colleges or universities across the country and also are working at least part time. Community College of Rhode Island grants the Associate in Arts (A.A.), the Associate in Science (A.S.), the Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.), the Associate in Applied Science in Technical Studies (A.A.S.-T.S.) and the Associate in Fine Arts (A.F.A.) degrees. Several one-year certificates are also awarded.
