Educational and Experience Requirement:

Associates Degree in related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Three years relevant administrative assistant experience or experience in a related field. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position:

Performs advanced administrative assistant duties for the Department of Forensic Science.

Primary Responsibilities:

Performs advanced administrative assistant duties to support the Department of Forensic Science. Requires knowledge of Excel and budget management. Processes Electronic Payroll Action Forms (ePAF) and maintains class scheduling. Prepares, reviews, edits, and distributes correspondence, forms, documents, letters, memoranda, and reports. Handles routine and special correspondence with attention to detail. Maintains frequent contacts for administrators with public and university officials. Provides departmental or university information to students, departments, and staff. Schedules appointments and activities. Attends meetings and takes notes. Maintains personnel, administrative, and other special reports and develops office forms and procedures. Handles Procurement Card (Pcard) and BearKatBuy purchases, monitors expenses, and maintains supply inventory. Processes ChromeRiver travel pre-approvals and travel expense reports. Assists in compiling statistical data and preparing various written summaries concerning divisional/departmental activities. Reviews internal procedures and recommends needed changes. Interprets policies and procedures. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Other Specifications:

Requires a general knowledge of standard office functions. Requires good knowledge of procedures and practices. Must be able to use standard office software. Must be able to apply policies and procedures and solve routine problems of a repetitive nature. Must possess the ability to multi-task in an often fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines.
