Educational and Experience Requirement:

Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Communications, Tech Theater, or related area. Master’s degree in College Student Personnel or Higher Education Administration preferred. Two years of experience in event services, theatrical/arts technology, event management, or experience in a related field. Experience in Higher Education and specialized work is preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.

Nature & Purpose of Position:

Assists with event setups and tear downs, specifically focusing on theatrical sound, lighting, and staging equipment in the Lowman Student Center.

Primary Responsibilities:

Assists with the execution of events and programs in the LSC, including event set ups and tear downs. This position will assume primary responsibly for evening operations in the Lowman Student Center, which includes verifying set up accuracy of tables and chairs and theatrical lighting, sound, and stage equipment. Assists with the supervision of the technical services and event services crews. Will assume responsibility for the operations of the Lowman Student Center, including managing evening events, supervising student staff members throughout the facility, generating task lists for staff, ensuring setups are complete, and providing excellent client interactions in the LSC. Informs guests of the LSC policies and procedures and enforces them as necessary. Responsible for ensuring that staff are informed of events and issues occurring during the alternative shifts. Handles guest complaints, ensuring that facility operations and services for these areas are executed in accordance with high customer service standards. Position is also responsible for hanging and focusing lights, including intelligent fixtures. Operating ETC, Grand MA lighting, or similar consoles and controls. Operating sound equipment, including live mixing, patching, and use of Yamaha or similar sound consoles. The Events Coordinator maintains a visible presence in the facility and strives to provide exemplary service for all of our guests. Performs other duties as assigned.

Other Specifications:

Must possess good oral, telephone, and written communication skills. Excellent customer service skills desired. Strong interpersonal skills, conflict resolution skills, and adaptability are preferred.

The anticipated schedule for this position will be Sunday-Thursday 2pm-11pm and may require additional flexibility due to the nature of the LSC event schedule. Position will require the ability to lift 65lbs. This position provides supervision during emergencies and/or special events.
