Job Overview

During the summer, Georgetown University houses over 90 different conference groups with over 11,000 guests annually and over 1,000 individuals taking classes, interning, or working in campus leadership positions. The summer graduate intern(s) will primarily work and play an integral role with the residential services staff in overseeing summer operations and initiatives for both conference and individual summer housing.

In Residential Living, our mission is to create comfortable, inclusive communities that foster formation and engagement. Georgetown University is a residential campus home to over 5,000 undergraduate students living in 13 buildings. The Office of Residential Living encompasses two units: Residential Education & Residential Services. Our staff includes 32 full time professional staff members, 100 academic-year Resident Assistants, 7 summer Resident Assistants, 50 academic year Operations student staff, 80 summer student staff, 2 Community Assistants, and 2 Graduate Assistants.

The individual(s) in this position will report to the Coordinator for Summer Operations on the Residential Services team and support supervision of over 80 student team members. Work for this position will comprise 35 hours per week May - August 2022, involving significant weekend commitments to support the transition of guests on campus. The person in this role is critical to the team in assisting with managing daily operations during guests' stay on campus to include providing support during emergencies.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Concurrent enrollment in a Master's Degree required.
  • Must communicate effectively in writing and speaking.
  • Positive attitude, solid work ethic, independent judgment, and ability to work flexible hours
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 for all transcripts preferred.
  • Previous or current Housing/Residential Living and/or Summer & Conference Housing experience preferred.
