At Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business, our mission is to build global business knowledge and inspire ethical leaders to serve the common good.

The Associate Director, MBA Career Center, is a key member of the MBA Career Center team responsible for developing career management strategies and counseling students on their careers. They manage the employer relationships and assist with the design of marketing strategies for a group of employers within specified career industry segments; contribute career guidance and industry expertise to the development and delivery of value-added, client-focused career management services for full-time and part-time MBA students; and are responsible for the Consumer Products, Retail/eCommerce, Healthcare, and Manufacturing & Transportation industries, with a particular focus on the Marketing function.

The Associate Director is familiar with the MBA curriculum and, in conjunction with the faculty and student services, advises the students on the applicability of the curriculum in their chosen career path, and supports the admissions process by interviewing prospective candidates, conducting career management presentations at admissions events, and/or providing employer-focused counsel to the Admissions team. They work closely with faculty, McDonough staff, students, employers, alumni and other stakeholders who may influence the career path of the students.

The Associate Director and assigned student Peer Advisors are industry and functional experts providing career management and recruiting guidance to students and employers; and are required as a team member where the number and complexity of industry segments covered is disproportionately high. The Associate Director focuses on all Corporate Functional areas within assigned Industries, with a particular focus on the Marketing function.

Reporting to the Assistant Dean of the MBA Career Center, the Associate Director has responsibilities that include but are not limited to:

Leadership & Strategy
  • Serves as is the Industry Practice leader for the Consumer Products, Retail/eCommerce, Healthcare, and Manufacturing & Transportation industries - and a specific expertise in Marketing
  • Develops a value-added, career management delivery strategy that ensures that all services are value added and client focused for the employers and full-time and part-time MBA students
  • In addition to providing strategic delivery leadership for the Career Center programs, assists with the leadership, coaching and development of the Industry Team members
  • Assesses the trends, feedback, surveys and other data to determine which industries and functions GU should be aligned with and therefore establish or expand employer relationships that will support the students' career goals


Employer Relations & Recruiting
  • Leads the development and execution of innovative marketing strategies that will strengthen, sustain and/or broaden relationships with employers
  • Acquires new employer relationships and will also look for opportunities to increase employment opportunities in international locations
  • Assists the employer with campus outreach to students, including company branding, interviews, internship and direct hire placement, and other employer needs
  • Delivers training, organizes employer events, and contributes to the career management program development
  • Represents and promotes Georgetown at external events, career fairs and professional conferences such as National Black MBA Association, Prospanica, Reaching Out, Net Impact, etc.
  • Ensures timely and accurate dissemination of information to employers, students and other career management constituents; hosts employer lunches and company events; and reviews the recruiting process to ensure that the best quality of service is provided to employers and students


Student Relations & Coaching
  • Coaches, advises and trains students to develop a career vision and strategy
  • Guides and monitors the execution of the career tactics that support the student's career goals; and provides individual coaching as well as group trainings at workshops and other events
  • Provides coaching for students who have not yet determined an industry/function for their career path and assists them will selecting a career direction
  • Partners with key stakeholders, including students, student organizations, alumni, faculty, McDonough advisory boards and the Career Center & MBA teams; and leverages the key relationships in support of employer outreach and student development
  • Collaborates with other MBA areas, including admissions, student services, and alumni services, as well as other relevant departments throughout Georgetown University


Surveys, Administration & Programming
  • Partners with Career Center Operations team to ensure the integrity, accuracy and timelines of data entered into and retrieved from the Career Center technology resources
  • Establishes, tracks and reports out on key metrics that will measure the effectiveness of the services provided
  • Supports the design of career management events/activities that support employer and student goals


Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Business, Marketing, Industrial Psychology, HR, Higher Education, Counseling, or equivalent degree
  • 5+ years in a very polished, demanding corporate environment
  • Experience within MBA recruiting process and management experience in a Human Resources environment
  • Extremely strong interpersonal communication abilities and strong team orientation
  • Proven experience handling corporate and/university relationships
  • Proven leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-task environment with tight deadlines
  • Experience coaching and mentoring junior staff on professional development and career skills
  • Strategic and innovative and focus on holistic, systemic solutions
  • Strong leadership, coaching/advising skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and deliver results by working with others
  • Significant experience/expertise in at least one of the industries/functions
  • Recruiting experience as a hiring manager or recruiting/HR professional
  • Highly organized and creative
  • High level of flexibility and innovation


Preferred qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft (Word, Excel, PPT)
  • Understanding of general recruiting databases and budgeting experience


Work Mode: Hybrid (4 days on campus; 1 day telework). Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University.
