The Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Oklahoma seeks a Director of the College’s Student Success Center. The director will provide support for the Center’s mission of developing and implementing an infrastructure to assist faculty and staff in integrating high-impact teaching practices and career development opportunities into departmental curricula, while working directly with students to help them apply the skills they have developed through arts and sciences coursework in new civic and career contexts.

Furthermore, the director will oversee the recruitment of new students to the college and work with departments and units to coordinate recruitment plans. This recruitment will include assisting college administrators and staff with the implementation and coordination of the Dodge Family Scholars initiative.

Specific tasks and responsibilities will include:

    Serving as a resource for faculty in developing high-impact curricula, including service learning, internships, undergraduate research, and project-based capstone courses.Tracking and reporting student participation in high-impact learning experiences and documenting student outcomes.Promoting high-impact courses among advisors and students to increase student enrollment and engagement.Coordinating the Dodge Family Scholars initiative by working with college and campus partners to plan meetings and activities for each cohort while tracking participation in required activities.Coordinating with the Director of Academic Advising to enlist the assistance and participation of academic advisors in appropriate SSC activities.Working closely with our partners in OU Career Services, the OU Lead & Volunteer Office, and the Office of Community Engagement.Working with the OU Office of Admissions and Recruitment to recruit qualified degree candidates and increase awareness of and access to Student Success Center opportunities among incoming students. Partnering with the College Development team to build and expand external funding and promote mentoring programs to connect current students with the College’s large population of engaged, accomplished, and caring alumni.Developing and sustaining relationships with both nonprofit and for-profit community organizations to expand opportunities for student internships and project-based service learning.Advancing the College’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and access through thoughtful design of each Center initiative to ensure the broadest possible student participation.Planning and coordinating college events, particularly convocation, to encourage and solicit student engagement, retention, and graduation.


Job Location
Required Education:  Bachelors degree, AND: 

  • 12 months in student programming, student services, or closely related experience.
Equivalency Substitution: Will accept 48 months related experience in lieu of the Bachelors degree for a total of 60 months experience.

Skills:

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writings.
  • Composition and proofreading skills
  • Computer skills, including proficiency in navigating and maintaining databases.
  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information.
  • Highly organized and ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate well and build rapport with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to read and interpret policy as well as State and Federal regulations.
