Job Overview

 

The Center for New Designs in Learning and Scholarship (CNDLS) and Georgetown University invites applications for a Faculty Developer position. The Faculty Developer will manage CNDLS projects for Georgetown faculty and instructors across a variety of areas that promote inclusive and innovative teaching, foster student learning, and building community at Georgetown. Primarily under the direction of the Director of Faculty Initiatives at CNDLS, this individual serves as a practice expert in faculty development models and strategies; works as an academic and instructional specialist in emerging pedagogical strategies and educational technologies; and acts as a liaison with the larger campus community, particularly in working as part of the CNDLS team as it translates teaching practices into student-centered, active, inclusive, and connected learning experiences. 

 

This is a dynamic position whose responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

 

  • Leading CNDLS offerings including Curriculum Enrichment Grants, Mid-Semester Teaching Feedback, and other programs

     

    Working on the design, development, and facilitation of new programming

     

    Contributing to programming for the annual Teaching, Learning and Innovation Summer Institute as well as other key faculty workshops and events. 

     

    Collaborating with the Senior Associate Director for Inclusive Pedagogy on the administration of the Engelhard Project for Connecting Life and Learning

     

    Providing consultation and design support for online courses

     

    Serving as a team member across online and multimedia programs

Work Interactions

 

The position reports to the Director of Faculty Initiatives and is responsible for significant portions of the organization’s faculty development programs. The position also provides leadership and collaboration with staff in other areas of CNDLS.  They may supervise graduate students and collaborate with university faculty, department chairs, all CNDLS staff, and with Directors and staff of centers across the university. By supporting teaching and learning across the campus, this position helps Georgetown achieve the goal of being a student-centered research university. 

 

Requirements and Qualifications

 

Candidates should have a PhD and a demonstrated commitment to improving their own teaching through research-based practices.

 

Requirements include:

 

  • Teaching experience at the college/university level

     

    Experience leading workshops and facilitating other faculty development programming

     

    Expertise in online course and curriculum design 

     

    Facility with Canvas, Zoom, lecture capture tools

     

    Demonstrated experience leading projects and organizing events in higher education setting

     

    Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and think critically about issues in teaching and learning and higher education

     

    Project management experience and attention to detail

     

    Ability to work well in teams as well as independently while managing multiple concurrent projects

     

    Superb oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with faculty across multiple disciplines

     

Preferred

 

  • Some knowledge of design and media development/production

     

    Experience providing individual consultation on teaching and learning issues.

     

    Evidence of participating in the scholarship of teaching and learning and/or assisting others with Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) initiatives.

     

    Valued dispositions of flexibility, curiosity, listening, empathy, collaboration, and resilience

     

This position has been designated as Hybrid, 3 days on campus.
