About Us
The Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences offers the B.S. in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science and M.S in Exercise Science. The program houses a human performance laboratory that is more than 1,400 square feet and includes a Parvomedics Metabolic Cart, GE Lunar DXA, Bod Pod, multiple BIA devices, Accupower force plate, Lode Excalibur Cycle Ergometer, Brower Timing System, Lactate Scout, Monark Cycle Ergometers,Cholestech LDX, Zephyr BioHarness, LOGIQ e ultrasound, accelerometers/pedometers, and other equipment related to lab experiences (e.g., blood pressure monitors, skinfold calipers, and heart rate monitors).

Job Summary
Columbus State University invites outstanding candidates to apply for the position of Assistant / Associate Professor of Exercise Science in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences in the College of Education and Health Professions. The position is a nine-month, tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences in the College of Education and Health Professions. The successful candidate will be able to foster an environment of professionalism and collaboration, demonstrate exceptional ability to function as part of a team with university faculty and the community of practice, and engage in practices that support the University's focus on student engagement and active learning.

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
  • Teaching undergraduate and graduate Exercise Science / Kinesiology courses
  • Developing and maintaining an active scholarly agenda
  • Advise undergraduate/graduate students
  • Supervise student research (e.g. thesis)
  • Coordinate student internship placements
  • Perform service at all levels to support and advance the missions of the department, college, and university

Required Qualifications
Candidates should have a Doctoral degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Human Performance, or related field, from a regionally accredited institution (ABD candidates considered); excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to work effectively as a team member; Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses such as Measurement & Evaluation, Health & Wellness Program Design, Exercise Testing & Prescription, Electrocardiography, Exercise Leadership, Exercise Psychology, etc.; a record of successful research and publication or strong evidence of potential; a record of service and involvement in the profession; and the ability to use technology for synchronous and asynchronous instruction.

Applicants must have the ability to meet Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requirements, in particular a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline.
