Scope of Job:
To provide support and assist with the overall administration and development of specific department programs.

Description of Duties:
• Assists with US Department of Energy Industrial Assessment Center (IAC) program planning and implementation.
• Compiles, sorts, and organizes data for entry into database of the Department of Energy and internally in the IAC.
• Distributes program information and conducts program research.
• Works with the IAC program students, recruits students, and recruits work-study students to optimize the output of center activities. Becomes familiar with the work-study process to secure more students for the center.
• Collects and obtains approvals from assessment clients and utilities to yearly, monthly, and 15 minute electricity demand information.
• Initiates, develops and sustains strong positive relations with assessment clients, the US Department of Energy and its Field Office, and other stakeholders, to ensure achievement of the mission and goals of the department and/or college.
• May track and report on current trends to determine future program needs.
• Assists in preparing assessment reports on the status of the program, including state of development, proposals, budget variances, or other documents as required for the program.
• Assists in the coordination of events, including but not limited to, lectures, lectures series, workshops, meetings, and short courses.
• Greets visitors and communicates with customer, employees, and other individuals to answer questions, disseminate and/or explain information.
• Assists in the creation and distribution of program materials, forms, and general correspondence.
• May provide program specific training.
• Will maintain financial records, including reconciliation of IAC accounts.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Education:


Required Experience:
• Three (3) years of general office experience or other applicable experience related to the program, or
• One (1) year of the required experience with an Associate’s degree or 60 college credit hours.

Preferred Experience:

Use of standard office equipment.

Working Conditions:
Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Office Environment; some travel and weekend work may be required.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Capacity to multitask under pressure and respond professionally to all inquiries. Ability to interact in a professional manner with faculty, staff, students and the public. Ability to exercise judgment and collaborate effectively in the solution of practical program relating to office operations and data collection.

A New University with a Long History

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley was created by the Texas Legislature in 2013 in a historic move that brings together the resources and assets of UT Brownsville and UT Pan American and, for the first time, makes it possible for residents of the Rio Grande Valley to benefit from the Permanent University Fund—a public endowment contributing support to the University of Texas System and the Texas A&M University System.


Our new university will also be home to a School of Medicine and will transform Texas and the nation by becoming a leader in student success, teaching, research, and health care. UTRGV will enroll its first class in the fall of 2015, and the School of Medicine will open in 2016.


UT Brownsville and UT Pan American

The shared history of The University of Texas Pan American and The University of Texas at Brownsville goes back to 1927, when Edinburg College was founded. In 1973, Pan American opened a second campus in Brownsville, which later became an independent institution of The University of Texas System in 1991. Over the years, the missions and the identities of these great institutions have continually evolved to serve the communities of the Rio Grande Valley.

Now, the evolution and connection between these two institutions is coming full circle as UT Brownsville and UT Pan American are being established as a single, new university and medical school, with a single, new identity—The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
