Each summer, Georgetown University's School of Continuing Studies hosts Junior Discovery for Middle School students and Summer Discovery for High School students, offering motivated middle school and high school students the opportunity to learn more about a subject area of their interest.

The Summer Discovery program offers various two hour a day, noncredit enrichment courses over eight or nine class periods held Monday - Friday during each of the two, 2-week sessions. Courses will be offered from 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM EST and from 1:30 PM - 2:30 PM EST.

The School of Continuing Studies is seeking an instructor for the course below.

Exploring Medicine - Introduction to Careers in Medicine (4 sections available to teach)

Session I: July 5, 2022 - July 14, 2022
Session II: July 18 - July 28, 2022

Session I

10:30 AM - 12:30 PM

1:30 PM - 3:30 PM

Session II

10:30 AM - 12:30 PM

1:30 PM - 3:30 PM

Instructors are responsible for:
  • developing the curriculum;
  • providing academic materials and disseminating course information;
  • delivering lectures and facilitating discussions;
  • providing hands-on learning activities.

A course syllabus with a course description, learning objectives, assignments, and assessments are also required for review by the School of Continuing Studies. Class sizes average between 8-20 students per section.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of or experience with course subject matter.
  • K-12 and/or Undergraduate teaching experience is preferred.
  • An ideal candidate will be able to teach all sections of a course.

Additional Information: All Instructors must attend a training session in May and successfully complete a background check prior to the start of the Program.
Compensation: $1125 per section taught (up to 4 sections available)
