Reporting to the Senior Director of Financial Operations, the Administrative Officer - in a temporary role - is a shared temporary resource and has duties that include but are not limited to:
  • Assume independent management of the operation to support the Interdisciplinary programs and other unsupported programs (Georgetown Humanities Initiative, Medical Humanities Initiative, small program languages) within Georgetown College
  • Manage virtually all of the central elements of these departments and programs
  • Serve as a resource to these Departments and programs on university human resources and faculty appointment policies and procedures; and handle payroll, purchasing and accounts payable matters
  • Oversee complex administrative processes and the day-to-day operations of these departments/programs; and provide full administrative support to the Chairs/Program Directors and faculty
  • Provide support for all the administrative and financial activities related to the upcoming Commencement activities within Georgetown College


The Administrative Officer works closely with the Department Chairs and Program Directors in all areas of policy and administration, including work on confidential matters.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 2 years of work experience in a professional office environment - preferably in an academic administrative office - OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and attention to detail and policy compliance
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize


Preferred qualifications
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite of applications, Adobe and Workday
  • Familiarity with website management, social media and related analytics
  • Experience in budget and financial administration
  • Knowledge of Georgetown University financial and human resources procedures
