Postdoctoral Scholar: Inclusive Educational Research

The UC Irvine Division of Teaching Excellence and Innovation (DTEI) and Collaboratory for Data Analytics for Student Success (CODAS) is looking for a Postdoctoral Scholar with expertise in qualitative and/or mixed methodologies to carry out inclusive educational research exploring teaching and learning in higher education. This position will be under the supervision of Dr. Sabrina Solanki (Academic Administrator) and Dr. Pheather R. Harris (Director, California Alliance for Minority Participation). This is a two-year position with a proposed start date of July 1, 2022 (negotiable).

This position is specifically focused on conducting research related an NSF Hispanic-Serving Institutions grant (DUE 2122942) to create The Institute for Meaningful Engagement (TIME), a faculty professional development program to enhance inclusivity of STEM academic environments for undergraduates. In particular, we are interested in faculty conceptions of access, diversity, equity and inclusion with respect to teaching and learning and advancing their understanding of the social and cultural location of their students. Postdoctoral Scholar will be expected to leverage skills including survey design and analysis, interview protocol design and analysis. The role may also involve accessing, cleaning, and analyzing institutional data. The intended applicant should possess experience with qualitative data analysis methods and awareness of quantitative methods.

CODAS is housed within DTEI and the Office of the Vice Provost of Teaching and Learning and aims to bring together researchers across the campus interested in conducting education research and implementing this research into practice. The Postdoctoral Scholar will collaborate with UCI faculty, postdocs, and graduate students, primarily within STEM, Education, and Social Science disciplines.
