Research Program Analyst
The Center for Teaching Excellence and Innovation (CTEI) is the instructional innovation center for the faculty and graduate students of the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences and the Whiting School of Engineering. It is also the training center for all university doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows through the CTEI Teaching Academy.

We are seeking a Research Program Analyst who will lead the CTEI's educational research and program evaluation initiatives. This will include consulting with CTEI staff, faculty, and senior leaders (e.g., Vice Provosts, Vice Deans) on writing grant proposals. The Research Program Analyst will be responsible for designing research methods and assessment plans, collecting and analyzing data, and publishing on the results. This may include coordinating with staff or supervising graduate students assisting on projects.

This individual will also participate as a facilitator in the CTEI's training programs by leading workshops on educational research, evaluation best practices, and teaching-as-research methods. The CTEI manages the University's Teaching Academy - a professional development program for graduate students and post-doctoral fellows who aspire to academic positions with instructional responsibilities. They will support the Teaching Academy by consulting with and mentoring graduate students and post-doctoral fellows completing teaching-as-research projects. The position reports to the CTEI director.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Identify grant-funded initiatives to advance and assess the pedagogical priorities of faculty and senior leadership
  • Lead grant proposals to various funders on educational research, curriculum innovation, or graduate student/faculty development programs
  • Consult with and advise faculty and senior leadership on educational research designs for grant proposals submitted to programs such as the NSF Early CAREER Development or NSF Research Traineeship programs
  • Facilitate workshops on educational research methods and related topics for faculty, post-doctoral fellows, and graduate students
  • Conduct literature reviews on evidence-based teaching practices and generally accepted research protocols
  • Manage data collection and analysis for educational research and program evaluation projects
  • Manage Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications for human-subjects research
  • Publish on educational research with faculty partners and CTEI staff in peer-reviewed journals
  • Write internal reports directed to senior leadership on program evaluation data collection and analysis
  • Supervise graduate students and coordinate with CTEI staff assisting on evaluation projects
  • Consult with and mentor teaching-as-research fellows in the CTEI's Teaching Academy
  • Provide strategic planning for and implementation of assessment protocols for externally funded grant programs and internal program evaluation activities such as those required by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and Accreditation Board for Engineering Training (ABET)
  • Represent the CTEI and/or advise university committees that address assessment policies and practice

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
  • Master's Degree in related field (education research, applied math, social sciences, discipline-based scientific education) required; PhD strongly preferred
  • 5+ years' experience leading program evaluation or educational research activities

Preferred Qualifications:
  • History of publishing in peer-reviewed journals, preferably on the scholarship of teaching and learning
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse constituencies of faculty, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and staff across academic divisions
  • Experience writing and securing grants
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practice in quantitative and qualitative research methods including advanced statistical methods used in education or social science disciplines
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Teaching experience at the university level strongly preferred
  • History of participation in professional organizations that focus on educational research

Starting Salary Range: $61,550 - $84,700 annually (commensurate with experience)
