Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities:This position works closely with the Associate Director of Human Resources to facilitate case management for employee relations. Manages the exit interview process and tracks feedback to analyze trends and to identify concerns, especially in area of diversity retention. Responsible for the University clearance record process. Manages Workers’ Compensation claims and Unemployment Insurance claims.
- Serves as an integral team member on employment and employee relations matters.
- Responds to and investigates complaints involving employment matters under guidance and supervision from the Associate Director of Human Resources.
- As required, may participate or conduct employee meetings in order to ensure cases are progressing forward.
- Provides insight and interpretation to managers and employees regarding policies, employee relations issues, employee disciplinary reports and workplace investigations.
- Maintains active employee relations case log.
- Monitors & proofs personnel action forms (PAs) related to separations, leaves of absence, legal names changes, etc.
- Processes unemployment compensation claims and quarterly billing.
- Processes workers’ compensation claims.
- Assists with maintaining OSHA Log.
- Conducts interviews with exiting faculty and staff to collect, analyze, and report on data that will be used for overall institutional improvement and diversity initiatives.
- Processes University clearance records.
- Conducts regularly scheduled administrative support trainings.
- Assists with training, and other Human Resources projects.
- Assists with leave of absence requests as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Two years of office or administrative experience. Additional college education may be exchanged year-for-year to meet qualifications.
- Memory for verbal or written directions and details; ability to do concise and accurate work; initiative; ability to adapt and plan.
- Ability to meet and deal with people through telephone and personal contact; arithmetic computations.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Preferred Education and/or Experience Qualifications:
- Experience in a university or academic or administrative position preferred.
- Human Resources experience preferred.
- Employee relations experience preferred.
- Experience with the Banner system preferred.
