The Assistant Director of Financial Aid –Funded Scholarships in Office of Student Financial Planning Office is primarily responsible for the overall endowed and annual or current use (herein referred to as gift) spending scholarships. The Assistant Director, Scholarships will work closely with the Assistant Vice President of Enrollment Management/Exec. Director of Financial Aid and the VP of Enrollment Management to implement strategic use of endowed and gift funds to move Stetson University toward its goal of meeting 100% financial need. Analysis of student financial need will be critical in addition to ensuring that awards are compliant with all donor intentions and legal agreements.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • This position has primary responsibility to review scholarship candidate profiles for accuracy and to match with donor specifications and intent
  • This position is responsible for reconciling and analyze reports related to scholarship funding to utilize all funds available in a prudent and strategic manner
  • This position will act as the liaison between Enrollment and university departments (like the Stetson University Business School Foundation) who request scholarship awards, determining eligibility and/or feasibility within award packages
  • This position is the primary liaison for Advancement and Development to ensure integrity of the data contained within Scholarship Manager including the addition of new funds and the correlation of the new account set-up in Banner
  • This position will work with the Stetson University Premiere Scholarship Programs (i.e., JOE) in all areas related to the notification and awarding of these funds to ensure individual program specifics are met
  • This position is an essential member of the Retention Task Force Committee and work closely with key players in the recruitment and retention to help remove financial barriers to student persistence and graduation
  • Conduct outreach and hold events to disseminate valuable information and build financial literacy among the student population to assessing and obtaining scholarship resources to help fund their education
  • Some weekend hours are required
  • Performs other site and position specific functions as assigned
ROUTINE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Detail the routine daily tasks and responsibilities:

  • Review scholarship candidate profiles for accuracy and to match with donor specifications and
  • Review and analyze reports related to scholarship funding to utilize all funds available in a prudent and strategic
  • Conduct scholarship account reconciliation between awards in Banner and awards in Scholarship Manager to ensure proper account
  • Work closely with university departments who request scholarship awards, determining eligibility and/or feasibility within award packages.
  • Perform customer service duties via the telephone, in person, via email and over web-meeting software such as Zoom or TEAMS, providing accurate financial aid information to parents and
  • The tasks involved in this position are essentially sedentary, with occasional walking, bending, light-lifting or other restricted physical activities. Tasks are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions, and they do not require special sensory demands. Occasional travel to meetings required.
Required Skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook, are required. Banner and Slate experience a plus. Scholarship Manager experience is also a plus
  • Ability to function and appropriately prioritize in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Required Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years of student financial aid experience is required
  • Thorough knowledge of rules and regulations government state and federal student aid programs
  • Ability to work outside of the normal working hours (evenings and/or weekends)
