This is a part-time 50% FTE position. Located in Knoxville, TN.


JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  The Nurse Practitioner works closely with OB/GYN resident physicians, faculty, and other nurse practitioners and reports to the Clinical Director.



    Provides routine obstetrical, well-woman, and low risk gynecological care for patients using established protocols under the indirect supervision of attending faculty physicians.Evaluates and treats disease processes. Prescribes and /or issues drugs and therapies as described in protocols and by TCA 63-7-115. Uses electronic medical records system to maintain patient records. Consults with faculty physicians on areas of concern for patient care.Collaborates with resident physicians and faculty to promote best practices. Maintains a patient panel and is responsible for evaluation of tests and reports.Refers patients to residents per protocol. Maintains current licensures, certification, and necessary liability insurancePerforms other duties as necessary.



EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years primary care experience required. GYN skills essential; computer skills essential for use of electronic medical record. Occupational Health experience preferred, but not required.



    Possesses strong active listening skills and reading comprehension abilities. Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills. Exhibits superior critical thinking and analytical skills. Shows working knowledge of pharmaceuticals, side effects, and potential problems with medicine combinations. Possesses a high level of social perceptiveness. Displays exceptional customer service skills. Demonstrates strong active learning skills, as well as complex problem-solving abilities. Exhibits strong organizational skills and effective time management abilities.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Current and valid Tennessee license from the State Board of Nursing for Advanced Nursing Practice; Meet all state requirements and obtain valid Prescriptive Authority including a DEA certificate; Officially accredited to practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) by AANP or ANCC (APN License preferred). (COPY OF LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED)  

WORK SCHEDULE: This position occasionally works evenings and weekends
