Illinois Residency Requirement: This position requires Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date.

The Office of Human Resources is looking for dynamic and qualified applicants to fill a full-time Human Resource Representative position in the Civil Service Testing section.

The Human Resource Representative works cohesively with another section employee to review all Civil Service candidate materials to determine eligibility to complete examinations in applicable classifications. Employees in this section must maintain a level of confidentiality of all applicant and employee files, along with all Civil Service testing materials. The Representative will schedule, administer, grade and process Civil Service examinations and credentials assessments and ensure scores/ranks are sent to applicants in a timely manner. This position will conduct employment verifications for pending new hires and assist with the maintenance of Civil Service Probationary Review documentation. The selected candidate will also assist with required monthly employment reports used by Human Resources and the State Universities Civil Service System.

Additionally, the HR Representative will serve as back-up for the Talent Acquisition Specialist, assisting with the development and completion of various activities such as recruitment, job postings, job fairs, new employee onboarding, and university wide programs. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs and goals of the department.

This position is a highly visible role representing HR and Civil Service testing. The selected candidate will work with all levels of administration, faculty, staff and visitors, and is expected to provide exceptional professional and courteous customer service and guidance at all times. Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:

1. High school graduation or equivalent.
2. Any combination totaling two years from the following categories:
(a) Progressively more responsible work experience performing duties comparable to a HR Assistant (the lower level of this series).
(b) College course work in human resource administration, business administration, or a closely related field, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
-60 semester hours equals one year.
-90 semester hours equals two years.

Preferred Qualifications:

-A demonstrated proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office (more specifically, Excel and PowerPoint).
-Professional experience using various social media platforms.
-Experience with writing / editing job postings.
-Excellent oral and written communication skills, as demonstrated by the ability to work closely with clients.
