Departmental Objective:

To provide excellent food and services to residents and students, faculty and staff.

9-month position paid over 12 months. Position is eligible for medical & dental insurance, retirement & life insurance benefits, and paid sick/personal leave. Position report dates are August 1 through April 30 of each year.

Purpose of the Position:

Under the direction of the Food Production Manager and First Cook, this position prepares or produces assigned menu items necessary for the service, according to recipes and established standards.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA's) and/or Competencies required and preferred:


Required:

  • Ability to read and communicate in writing or verbally to supervisors
  • Demonstrated basic math skills
  • Knowledge of all kitchen equipment
  • Good organizational skills, ability to complete multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Ability to work at a quick, yet accurate, efficient at a thorough pace
  • Team-oriented, adaptable, dependable, and strong work ethic and ability to work in a very fast paced atmosphere
  • Positive attitude
  • Knowledge of all kitchen equipment
  • Knowledge of all types of cooking methods by reading and converting recipes
  • Keep work area clean and sanitize work surfaces after food preparation
  • Customer service oriented
  • Work cooperatively and communicative with front line staff
  • Follow uniform/appearance requirements
  • Positions will be exposed to slippery footing and congested work ares. Ability to wear protective footwear. Positions exposed to temperature extremes
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests and team members
  • Will be required to work days, evening and one day of the weekend
  • Must have reliable transportation, punctuality is a required.
  • Ability to lift a minimal of 25lbs

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required :

Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent

Experience Required: Experience working in a Food Service Establishment.

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Preferred :

Education Preferred: ServSafe certified or Food Service Sanitation certification

Experience Preferred: Previous experience working at a college or university dining operation. Experience working in a high volume production kitchen. Experience with industrial kitchen equipment

Salary Information:

Starting at $20,280, Commensurate with Education and Experience ( 9 month position paid over 12 months)
