Departmental Objective:

To provide Christopher Newport University’s students with an outstanding intercollegiate Division III Athletics program.

Purpose of the Position:

This position will assist the Athletic Equipment Manager in the efficient operation of the equipment room; fitting, repairing and maintaining athletic equipment; purchasing, issuing and inventorying athletic equipment; and setting up equipment for practices and games.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA's) and/or Competencies required and preferred:

Required:

Knowledge of maintenance practices for protective equipment of all sports

Knowledge of laundry processes and proper chemical application

Knowledge and compliance with NCAA rules and regulations

Preferred:

Ability to be certified as an Equipment Manager by the Athletic Equipment Manager’s Association

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required :

Education Required: High school diploma or equivalent

Experience Required: Experience working with athletic equipment in a team-oriented environment.

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Preferred :

Education Preferred: College graduate with a degree in Sports Management or a related field.

Experience Preferred: Prior experience working in an equipment room within an intercollegiate athletic department.

Salary Information:

Starting at $30,440 - Commensurate with Education and Experience
