Specific Duties:

  • Reconcile all cash accounts on a monthly basis. Monitor and resolve issues pertaining to bank fee charges, fraud attempts, transaction clearing differences and other reconciling items.
  • Reconcile Banner activity in various sub-ledgers to the general ledger, and bank account transactions.
  • Reconcile Integrated Business Course (IBC) bank accounts, and work with students and faculty to resolve any cash discrepancies.
  • Review and disseminate cash balances and various activities (return checks, governmental payments, financial aid disbursements, etc.) to the CFO, the Office of Financial Aid, Student Accounts, and External Programs, etc.
  • Advise all University departments that have any online activity involving electronic technology. Reconcile all online accounts.
  • Reconcile Financial aid and Advancement clearing accounts and related activities.
  • Advise and assist University Advancement in the daily sub-module data “feed” to the general ledger. Assist the Finance Systems Manager with the upload of data from the sub-ledger to the general ledger.
  • Fully responsible for the annual capitalization and depreciation process. This task requires coordination with Capital Planning, Facilities and Space Management, Accounts Payable, and Purchasing. Strong analytical skills based on GAAP accounting, with independent judgement are necessary to ensure assets are capitalized in accordance with the University policy, General Accepted Accounting Principles, and Federal grant requirements.
  • Assist the Finance Systems Manager with the annual upload of capitalized asset data into the Banner Fixed Asset Module, and the depreciation calculation process.
  • Assist with the monthly and year-end closing process, and the preparation of financial statements and analysis.
  • Responsible for preparation of various audit workpapers as assigned.
  • Responsible for working with departments, and community members, including students that have questions or concerns regarding activity in budget reports, and available balances.
  • Reconcile revenue, receivable, refunds, and cash accounts for the External Programs. Advise the Senior Director of External Learning on activity that posts to the general ledger.
  • Other duties as assigned by Senior Accountant, Director of Accounting, AVP of Finance and HR

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3 years of experience using an ERP for accounting of organizational data
  • 3 years of experience with reconciliation of financial data.
  • 3 years of experience using Word and Excel
  • Strong knowledge of use of relational databases, such as general ledger and various sub-ledgers
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent time management skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Ellucian Banner
  • Experience with reporting from a data warehouse
