Position Summary
Dominican University of CA is seeking an experienced individual to serve as course instructor for PA 5151 - Evidence Based Medicine and Health Policy. Students are in their first semester of a seven semester PA Program. Instruction will include teaching students to acquire and develop the knowledge and the skills for incorporating evidence-based recommendations, the peer-reviewed literature, and clinical guidelines into clinical and health policy decision-making. Instruction will also include evaluating research design, critically appraising research methodologies, and selecting and interpreting appropriate statistical analyses in medical literature. Students will also build on their knowledge of key healthcare and public health policies relevant to clinical practice, including those related to health care financing and current efforts in health reform.

  • Teaching all aspects of this course including research design and implementation, critical analysis of medical literature, beginning a capstone project, and teaching relevant aspects of health policy, public health, and healthcare financing as it relates to clinical practice as a PA.
  • Evaluate and grade student work and provide feedback to students.
  • Mentor and advise students on the progress of their projects and coursework.
  • Uphold academic performance standards and integrity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Course Descriptions
  • PA 5151 - Evidence Based Medicine and Health Policy - Students will evaluate research design, critically appraise research methodologies, and select and interpret appropriate statistical analyses. Students will also build on their knowledge of key healthcare and public health policies relevant to clinical practice, including those related to health care financing and current efforts in health reform.

  • Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree
  • 2 Years of experience teaching experience in Evidence-based medicine and Healthcare Policy to PA students.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Moodle.

  • Preferred Qualifications
  • PA Degree and NCCPA certification.
  • Doctoral degree
