Summary of Duties:

The Application Systems Analyst/Developer is responsible for analyzing, developing, implementing, and maintaining software applications within the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM), Veterinary Information Systems (VIS) unit that are critical to the business and research functions of the CVM program. Responsibilities include analyzing business information requirements, designing application systems solutions, constructing and testing application components, modifying and /or enhancing existing application components, integrating new applications and applications components and third-party packages with existing systems and procedures, and documenting and deploying application solutions. Responsibilities levels range from shared/team responsibilities for maintaining a single application to primary responsibility for developing and deploying complex widely used applications.

This position will be primarily based at our WSU Pullman Campus; however, remote/hybrid opportunities may be available and can be discussed during the interview process.

Required Qualifications:

  • Positions require a Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years professional experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

  • Experience planning, analyzing, designing, and implementing software applications.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in relational database design and use of SQL.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills for working with faculty, staff, and students.

  • Demonstrated professional demeanor with strong writing skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team and have a keen eye for detail.

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends on an occasional basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience programming in C#, ASP.NET MVC, .NET Core, and Web API’s.

  • Experience and demonstrated skill in working with Microsoft SQL Server 2012 and above.

  • Experience working with source control.

  • Experience with unit testing methodologies and use of agile programming techniques.

  • Experience with JavaScript and JQuery.

  • Experience with CSS and Standards Compliant HTML development.

  • Demonstrated self-starter and willingness to take full ownership and drive projects and tasks to completion.

Associate Vice Provost for Inclusive Excellence Recently Announced

Dr. Lisa Guerrero was recently named associate vice provost for inclusive excellence. Guerrero has been an active advocate for diversity and inclusion since joining the WSU faculty in 2004. She is currently a professor of Comparative Ethnic Studies in WSU’s School of Languages, Cultures, and Race. She will maintain her faculty position, while serving as associate vice provost in a half-time appointment.

Dr. Guerrero will provide leadership to academic affairs in implementing WSU’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. She will help to identify and implement best practices and evidence-based approaches in faculty hiring, tenure and promotion, research support, faculty retention, teaching and mentoring, and curriculum planning. One of her first areas of responsibility will be to oversee the Racism and Social Inequality in the Americas faculty cluster hire program for Fall 2021.
