Position Summary

The Oracle team develops and provides support for Oracle databases that store and retrieve data across departments. Reporting to the DBA Manager, the Oracle DBA role is primarily responsible for the following duties. With minimal supervision and technical guidance, administers, analyzes, implements, monitors and modifies enterprise database systems up to the highest complexity following departmental standards, practices, and procedures, in coordination with a team of support professionals; designs, installs configures and supports Oracle databases, clusterware, and OEM agents in replicated and clustered environments, as well as managing and maintaining non-clustered solutions; performs standard operational tasks such as monitoring and remedying issues related database availability, performance and stability and recoverability of all database environments (development, test, quality assurance and production) for both transactional and data warehouse implementations; designs and tunes database schemas; develops, implements, manages, and maintains database stored procedures; supports in the design, modification, implementation and integration of complex databases and database support software; performs on-call operational duties during off-hours and during weekends.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program; five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience providing Oracle database administration in an enterprise environment for version 12C/18c/19c experience installing, configuring, and supporting Oracle 12c/18c/19c or higher clusterware, ASM, RAC and DataGuard in an enterprise Linux environment; experience performing database backup and recovery using Oracle RMAN, performance tuning and monitoring, security design and auditing, and user and role management in an enterprise Oracle ; experience in tuning SQL query and Database; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

Skilled in database monitoring tools such Oracle Enterprise Manager, Oracle GRID Control or similar tools; experience developing automated maintenance shell scripts on Linux platforms to perform tasks such as index rebuilds, statistics computations, etc.; knowledge of data modeling and the ability to analyze existing models to support developers in applying best practices to application design; experience in a higher education environment; experience supporting databases in an ERP environment preferably SAP Experience in working with Oracle on Exadata; Desirable to have experience in Oracle’s Peoplesoft solutions for Student Information Systems; experience implementing encryption technologies such as network, transparent data encryption, and column encryption; experience with Oracle container and pluggable databases; familiarity installing Oracle RAC and RDBMS software in Windows environments; ability to identify and escalate complex and advanced issues requiring urgent attention in a 24/7 environment; demonstrated results escalating complex issues to vendors in order to resolve incidents; strong interpersonal skills
