Content Strategist

Position Summary

In this role you will:

  • Plan, produce and maintain day-to-day editorial content and workflow process across existing channels and research and develop new products
  • Manage story ideation, seeing the process through to publication
  • Work with health units to align and amplify storytelling through internal and external campaigns. Develop and produce captivating and inclusive content to tell the stories of MSU’s leadership in health sciences related to research, the student experience, innovation, and partnership
  • Write stories and produce media content with the audience in mind and measure effectiveness for agile improvements
  • Manage social media strategy and be able to conceive and execute campaigns that grow engagement with audiences
  • Manage and oversee Content Management Relationship (CRM) software and any e-mail distribution and contact management.
  • Oversee student employees to aid in workload and create learning opportunities.

The MSU Office of Health Sciences catalyzes the efforts of the health sciences in bringing health, hope, and healing for all through patient care, education, research, and partnership.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
  • Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Journalism, Public Relations or related field;
  • One to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in public and media relations, composing, editing and publication production, news, broadcasting, and print media, and/or marketing, advertising, and creative services;
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications
  • 5 years related experience
  • Excellent storytelling skills, creativity, and ability to develop original content with a focus on advanced science and technology
  • Ability to manage complex projects and meet multiple deadlines
  • Proficiency with popular content management systems
