Surveyor/Data Analyst

Position Summary

The Landscape Services department is seeking a highly motivated and focused Individual to work alongside the Landscape Construction Manager, Landscape Architect and Landscape GIS Analyst with recordation of $2.5 million worth of improvements on campus annually. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience building relationships with teams; be knowledgeable in constructing a site design, managing a project, staking and/or calculating survey points for alignment and grading, be able to operate traditional and GPS survey equipment (Trimble), have Autodesk CAD experience to render drawings and update campus base map using field collected data, have the ability to multi-task successfully and manage stressful situations professionally and be able to demonstrate respectful and courteous people skills in every interaction.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge normally acquired in the first two or three years of college, technical or vocational school with an Associates degree in Survey Engineering, Engineering Technology, Geographical Information Systems, or a related field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in topographic survey methods and techniques, topographic surveying terminology, RTK GNSS systems, and robotic total stations; one to three years of experience with analyzing and generating topographic survey data in CAD or other software associated with surveying, engineering, and construction; computer experience relating to the specific department; may require experience with utility Miss Dig stakeouts; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; may require a license in a specified field.

Desired Qualifications

Three to five years of experience in topographic survey methods and techniques, topographic surveying terminology, RTK GNSS systems, and robotic total stations. Proficient in necessary mathematical, geometrical, topographic surveying related processes, and industry standards; experience performing topographic surveys and layout with use of Trimble RTK GNSS systems and Trimble robotic total stations; experience implementing user-defined standards and developing topographic survey data in Auto-CAD Civil 3D; ability to read and decipher topographic surveys and construction design plans spanning a diverse set of industries; experience in commercial drafting related processes and industry standards; knowledge of OSHA/MIOSHA safety standards related to construction, confined space, and field work within or near public roads; prior experience working with a variety of facilities management roles (inspectors, contractors, engineers, etc.); strong communication skills; established problem solving, organizational, and multi-tasking skills; Experience with Microsoft 365; USGS/NGS Websites; ArcGIS
