St. Charles Community College invites qualified candidates to apply for the full-time Psychology Faculty position for (Fall 2022)This position will be responsible for developing and teaching psychology courses. Courses are delivered through multiple modalities including online, hybrid, and in-person. The successful candidate will participate in professional development, engage in assessment activities, attend faculty and committee meetings, and perform other duties as assigned. The position is on-site position requires on campus presence. The Psychology faculty reports to the Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Faculty Duties & Responsibilities:
 

  • Impart expertise, enthusiasm, and creativity in the instruction of psychology to a diverse student population with various learning styles and abilities.

  • Effectively prepare and present course content, drawing upon disciplinary knowledge, skills, theories, issues, research, and applications to design engaging and effective learning experiences.

  • Analyze course assessments, evaluations and data and engage in continuous improvement.

  • Demonstrate multicultural competence, including an awareness and understanding of historically disadvantaged populations, and create an educational environment that affirms commitment to equity and diversity.

  • Provide quality instruction in various settings (classroom, online) adapting to a variety of teaching/learning situations while maintaining an effective learning environment.

  • Competently incorporate instructional technologies in course delivery.

  • Seek and promote opportunities for student learning and critical thinking.

  • Assess, evaluate, and document student learning and achievement of course outcomes.

  • Provide individualized support to promote student success.

  • Provide verbal and written feedback to students in a timely manner, including the grading of assignments.

  • Maintain currency of course content and materials, including course syllabi.

  • Provide academic and career advising to students.

  • Establish and maintain office hours; be available for student consultation.

  • Perform ongoing student, program, and college assessment activities, including analysis of course assessments, evaluations, and data to engage in continuous improvement to enhance student success, retention, and completion.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree in Psychology or related field or 18 hours of successful coursework in psychology.
  • Professional practice/work-experience in psychology or closely related field.
  • Teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve the needs of students who represent a broad spectrum of ages, abilities, ethnicity, education, and cultural backgrounds
  • Success in being a collaborative and respectful team member.
  • Exceptional communication skills

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in curriculum development and assessment.
  • Experience working with a diverse population.
  • Expertise using a Learning Management System such as Canvas and using technology to enhance student learning.

 

Minimum starting salaries:

Instructor: $54,852; Assistant Professor: $60,424; Associate Professor: $66,427
